About Amen.Fun

So you may be wondering, why Amen? why Fun? You’ve come to the right place!

WELCOME!!!!!!!!

You may wonder about our religious/political affiliations, etc. Well let’s start off by saying that Amen.Fun is NOT affiliated with any particular religion or political party, nor do we preach any particular religious or political theories. We are not here to answer the age old question of “Which came first: the chicken or the egg?” or to choose sides in arguments like evolution vs creation.

We are here to help the world HEAL and FIND PEACE.

Amen.Fun is committed to EXPERIMENTING with the world around us, we will never blindly accept facts. We want to discover how to live more peacefully, and we want to SHARE the RESULTS of our personal experiments with each other. Sounds scientific? Sure! (you say) But where’s the FUN? Let’s not get ahead of ourselves…let us explain the AMEN first…

(Click here to jump to the succint hypothesis. i.e. the short version)

AMEN represents whatever you do (individually, tribally, and collectively) to tap into creation, regardless of how you BELIEVE it was/is created. Some examples of the things you might do to tap into creation are praying, meditating, setting intentions, breathing mindfully, singing, dancing, playing, art-ing (there should be a word for that), wishing, hoping, etc. Once your prayer/intention/(insert your own good feeling word here) is done, and your mind is on other things like making meals, taking care of hygiene, going to work, etc. what do you do?

Do you WORRY?

(Cue Bobby McFerrin’s Don’t Worry, Be Happy… seriously it’s a Spotify link, so you can listen to it while you read on.)

Do you ENJOY each MOMENT?

Do you FEEL us getting to the FUN?!?!

From our personal experiments, we have noticed that PERCEPTION is EVERYTHING. We are constantly editing the world around us, filling in the gaps of what we perceive, and having many thoughts that are invalid based on misperceptions and miscommunications. According to a 2020 study by Queen’s University in Canada, the average person has about 6,200 thoughts per day. We’re bound to get it wrong at least some of the time. So why do we take ourselves so seriously?!?! Don’t mistake us, there is a time for seriousness, but not at the expense of our health! We invite you to HAVE SOME FUN!!!!

Does that mean we’re suggesting that you blow off picking up the kids from school and head out on the first flight to Hawaii? Maybe (if you have another responsible adult and plenty of money), but what about having FUN while you do everything else? Why grind all day just to come home exhausted, resentful that you still have to make dinner and do household chores?

In other words: FIND A WAY TO HAVE FUN WITH LIFE!! Easier said than done?

Well, we invite you to start with a DEEP BREATH and ENJOY the EXHALE…let it out slowly and take your time.

Your heart rate will slow down automatically when your exhales are longer than your inhales. Anytime you feel like life isn’t fun, start with the breath to bring you back to the present moment. This may not sound like fun, and when you’re in an elevated mood you may not want to slow and be mindful. Well, then shake it off (musical reference intended…we’re having fun here), shake it out, dance it out, punch a pillow if that helps, and then when you’re done, try the breath again.

What we’re referring to here is based on a scientific theory that was first proposed at the University of Illinois at Chicago by Dr. Stephen Porges in 1994, known as polyvagal theory. Since then, he has published over 300 scientific papers which have been cited over 50,000 times. The cross-disciplinary concepts have evolved into a world view lens. Has the scientific community embraced this theory as proven? Here’s what the AI summary said when we googled “polyvagal proven” :

“Polyvagal theory (PVT) is a collection of ideas about the vagus nerve and its role in emotions, social connection, and fear response. While some say that PVT is proven in clinical practice, others say it has limited empirical support and is not endorsed by current social neuroscience”

– Google AI Summary

While reading these scientific papers may not be FUN for everyone, we can all benefit from understanding our nervous system. When our nervous system senses threat, all sorts of physiological changes occur. When we can distinguish between a freeze state, a fight-or-flight state, or a calm/alive state in ourselves and others, and we can learn how to signal safety to each other, our bodies lay down their defense systems and begin to rest, digest, and repair. Check out our PolyVagal Theory (PVT) section for videos and other content to help get you started on your journey to feeling better.

An experiment that involves getting in tune with the nervous system so we can all feel better? That sounds like it could help facilitate peace!

So AMEN = prayer/intention/etc.,

and FUN = calm aliveness,

WHAT ABOUT THE DOT? Like Amen (dot) Fun…

We like to say “Don’t Get Stuck at the Dot.”

What does that mean, you ask (after all, you did click on the About page)? It means AFTER you AMEN, don’t worry/hyperfocus on the prayer/intention/etc. Thinking extra thoughts, praying extra hard, intending with all your might?? Sounds stressful, and definitely not fun! When your happiness is based on the outcomes in life, you’re bound to find thoughts that bring you down. That’s what we mean by getting stuck at the DOT! Don’t get stuck waiting around for the prayer/intention/etc. to happen or trying to make it happen.

You did it!

You AMENed, now go have FUN! Even if it’s just doing chores or earning a living. You won’t be stuck in your current situation forever.

And our hypothesis is that if you open yourself up to feeling better, without neglecting responsibility of course, but by finding tools, resources, and community to help you feel CALM and ALIVE, your life will get better, and your prayers/intentions will manifest in front of your eyes.

Succinct Hypothesis:

To find Outer Peace, we must first find Inner Peace

Amen.Fun wants to be a shining example of the possibilities of humanity and healing. This site is just getting started, but in time, we hope it will be a catalyst of the coming paradigm shift towards world peace. Do you believe that peace is possible? We invite you to come experiment with us!
